Mental health

We support the increased profile mental health is getting nationally and are delighted to have secured additional funding to improve local services in Herefordshire and Worcestershire, with a comprehensive programme of development including:

  • Improving access to services through general practice, expanding the mental health primary care workforce with improved support from specialist services to help identify and manage mental health conditions at an early stage to help prevent crises
  • Improving the way mental health issues are managed alongside physical health needs, especially for people with long term conditions
  • Improving access to urgent mental health services, so that people can access urgent care and support when they need it
  • Improving access to our children, young people and families services including CAHMS and perinatal services.

The CCG has worked with Herefordshire and Worcestershire Health and Care NHS Trust and Herefordshire Council to produce a joint policy for Herefordshire patients that are eligible for section 117 aftercare under the Mental Health Act 1983/2007. This policy became effective from 1 September 2021 and can be accessed below:
