1million life-saving Covid-19 jab milestone to be reached across Herefordshire and Worcestershire

A milestone 1million life-saving Covid-19 vaccines is due to be reached across Herefordshire and Worcestershire, as the rollout of the biggest vaccination programme in the history of the NHS continues with this weekend’s ‘Grab a jab’ big weekend.

Simon Trickett, Chief Executive Officer for NHS Herefordshire and Worcestershire CCG said: “Delivering 1million vaccines is a fantastic achievement and is testament to the dedication and determination of our hardworking NHS staff, volunteers, partners and all those who have taken up their offer of a vaccine across the two counties.

“The vaccine is now available to everyone aged 18 and over across the country and I would encourage everyone who is eligible to come forward, either by booking online or by calling 119.

“Some locations are also offering walk-ins this weekend too, which can also be found on the NHS website”

People who have not yet taken up the vaccine offer can visit: https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/coronavirus-vaccination/ or call 119 to book an appointment for their Covid-19 vaccination.

Bookings are not always available at all locations, if travelling further for an appointment is not convenient people are encouraged to keep checking the National Booking System using the link above.

Dr Ian Tait, Chair for NHS Herefordshire and Worcestershire CCG, said: “I would like to thank each and every person who has played their part in making this happen, as we are so incredibly grateful that so many people have come forward to show that the vaccine is safe, effective and is our single best way of protecting ourselves and those closest to us from coronavirus.

“We know that everyone will have their own reasons for joining the millions who have already received the vaccine, which is why we are looking to mark this incredible moment by encouraging everyone to share what the vaccine means to them to help give others the confidence to come forward to receive theirs.”

The Midlands became the first region in the country to surpass the 10million vaccines mark in May 2021.

NHS England and NHS Improvement is encouraging everyone across the Midlands to share what the vaccine means to them by sharing pictures or videos on social media using the hashtag #WhatItMeansToMe.
